The Arbitration Foundation of Southern Africa was founded in 1996, the Pretoria Bar being one of its founding members.

AFSA Pretoria resolves disputes by means of mediation and arbitration. It is a well-known centre for domestic as well as international arbitrations and mediations. AFSA Pretoria runs its business from High Court Chambers in the Pretoria CBD and envisages moving to one of The Pretoria Society of Advocates' chambers in Pretoria east by 2017. Their excellent facilities are conveniently situated at the various chambers across Pretoria east and the city centre.

Panel members, comprising of retired judges, accountants, senior and junior advocates, engineers and others, are available to act as mediators or arbitrators on short notice.

Parties to a dispute may either request the secretariat to appoint a mediator or arbitrator by mutual agreement, or agree to administered mediation or arbitration in accordance with the Foundation's rules.

The documents on this page should be of assistance in terms of process, including fees involved. Friendly staff members are available to assist with procedural aspects.

It is envisaged that AFSA Pretoria will become a training centre for the University of Pretoria / AFSA post graduate ADR course in the near future. News in this regard will be made available on this page.
