The Library Committee of the Pretoria Society of Advocates is responsible for advising the Bar Council on the needs and requirements for running the Society’s Library situated at High Court Chambers. The Library was ceremoniously named the “Oscar Galgut Library” in honour of the late Mr Justice Oscar Galgut who, together with Findlay QC, sold their private collections to form the nucleus of the Society’s Library, since then the Library has been continuously expanded to provide the Society’s members and Judges alike with a state of the art legal repository. The duties and responsibilities of the Library Committee is to secure, maintain and expand a legal library of the highest standard and to carry out any necessary functions incidental thereto.
